As a follow-up to the succesful Marma-event (The burning of Upland Coast, pictures 1+2) in 2011, Kolme Krooni Klubi is host to the 2012 event in Northern-Estonia, Vihula parish, Lääne-Viru county. The event will take place from 25.05-27.05.2012 So-called scenario is currently under development. About historical backround I’d like to mention, that in 1700 Karl XII munitions were moved from Käsmu (Casperwig) towards Narva, allegedly up to 2,000 horses were used.
The idea is still the same, to make an event for history clubs, to practice manoeuvers and cooperation. The event lasts from the 25.05 afternoon till the 26.05 evening.

The History
The young Swedish King, Carl XII, had been forced to war as the Danes, Russians and Poland/Saxony had allied against the Swedes and went on the offensive in 1700, this was the start of the Great Northern War. Undaunted, the Swedish landed in Denmark and defeated the Danish in a swift action and forced them to a treaty. Meanwhile Russia and Saxony/Poland were besieging Swedish forts in Livonia.
Carl XII decided to deal with Russians first and swiftly marched on Narva.

Epic victory
In an epic battle they routed the much larger Russian Army (35-37,000 troops) in the biggest ever victory for a Swedish Army. The Swedish numbered roughly 10,000 troops).
The march-by of the defeated Russians took almost all day and it was only then evident how big a victory this was.
What if?
Some historians claim that If Carl XII had pressed on with his efforts against the Russians he could have knocked them out permanently from the Great Northern War - in such a bad state was the Russian Army after the defeat at Narva, having lost their artillery, thousands of muskets and other material.
... instead Carl XII turned his attentions against the Saxons/Poles and the rest is history!
Don't miss it!
